Meticulously verified against primary sources and published in strictly limited editions, our house collaborates with artists and French artisans to craft rare collectible objects for objects for minds drawn to the strange.
At the intersection of archival scholarship, graphic arts, and sensory design, Curiothèque materializes as a multidisciplinary art project dedicated to mapping the intangible memory of Europe’s hidden history.
Designed as an ongoing monographic series, each edition functions as a highly collectible Livre d’Artiste (Artist’s Book) — a tactile, physical archive that transforms rigorous historical research into a profound sensory encounter.
The Bibliophilic Format
Fusing the structural elegance of post-war French bibliophilia
(inspired by the 1940s–1950s Nouvelle Édition Française) with contemporary art book design.
An exquisite, hand-crafted A3 portfolio box containing 5 thematic slipcases (chemises) and 5 critical research essays.
Inside are 15 original, hand-drawn graphic plates (18×21 cm) presented under custom passe-partout. Each print is a meticulous study translating the complex anatomy of historical archives.
mbedded within the portfolio is a bespoke, hand-formulated archival fragrance (5–10 ml). This sensory "sillage" acts as a physical preservation of history, capturing the atmospheric essence of ancient wood, manuscripts, and forgotten spaces.
Entirely conceptualized, illustrated, and hand-finished by the artist
in a highly restricted, numbered edition of only 30 copies.
While the inaugural edition meticulously revives the secret apothecary collections and forgotten cabinets of curiosities across France,
the Curiothèque trajectory is actively expanding.
The next phase of our cross-border research has been awarded prestigious support by the European Union and the Goethe-Institut (Mobility Grant 2025–2026). This institutional backing will fund our upcoming exploration into the forgotten Baltic archives and cultural heritage of Latvia, which will form the second volume of this sensory trilogy.
