EXPLORE
THE DATABASE

We are building a comprehensive archive of Cabinets of Curiosities, from collections that have vanished into history to those still open today. Our goal is to trace the roots of modern museum collections and show how they have transformed over centuries.

The database is useful for historians, museologists, and anyone curious about the history of collecting.

HOW IT WORKS

Use the tags at the bottom of the text to filter your search by location, museum type, collection, or historical figures. You can also filter by access: Free, By appointment, or Paid. Each entry is verified against primary sources: state archives, library records, and rare manuscripts.

A LIVING ARCHIVE

The database grows as we verify new entries. If you know of a location we've missed, write to us at curiotequelab@gmail.com. We also welcome researchers who want to share findings, rare books, or additional data, or join our Open Call.
